Create and manage your API keys
An API key lets your app call the OpenSlate API. You create, rotate, and remove keys in your account.
Create a key
Open your account to create an API key. Give the key a clear name. Copy the key when OpenSlate shows it.
Keep the key secret
Store the key on your server. Keep the key out of the browser. OpenSlate keeps no secret keys in the browser.
Use the key on the server
Your server sends the key with each API request. All model calls run on the OpenSlate server. Only your server holds the key.
Rotate a key
Create a new key before you retire an old one. Move your app to the new key. Then remove the old key.
Remove a key
Remove a key that you no longer use. Remove a key at once if it leaks. The key stops working immediately.
Keys respect your data
A key reaches only your own account data. OpenSlate enforces this with RLS. Your data stays isolated.
